The 2021 Magee-Womens Summit will convene scientific and clinical innovators, virtually and in person, to transform women’s health and reproductive biology in the 21st century. As the premier international summit in women’s health, the Magee-Womens Summit will harness cross-disciplinary innovations and pave the way for a new generation of visionary research.
The 2021 summit themes are Healthy Beginnings, Shaping Metabolism, and Healthy Mind Through Transition. The centerpiece of the summit will be the award of the Magee Prize, a $1 million prize for collaborative and transformative research within women’s and reproductive sciences.
The Magee Prize
The Magee Prize was established in 2018 as a global award designed to be a catalyst for transformational research in women’s health and reproductive biology. It funds a collaborative team whose research could improve lives around the world. Based on a transdisciplinary collaboration between a Magee-Womens Research Institute scientist, and researchers anywhere in the world, the prize provides funding support for 2-3 years. The first prize was awarded at the inaugural summit in October, 2018 to an international team of scientists focused on ground-breaking research into the connection between
placental abnormalities and congenital heart disease. The Magee Prize is made possible through a gift from the Richard King Mellon Foundation.
Prize call for proposals for 2021 will be distributed in the spring of 2020.
*We recognize circumstances may change several times between now and May while we live with the international COVID-19 pandemic. The Magee Prize will be awarded whether the summit remains hybrid or pivots to a virtual event. Please check our website regularly for updates.
