Barbara Natterson-Horowitz, MD

Dr. Barbara Natterson-Horowitz is a cardiologist and evolutionary biologist on the faculty of Harvard Medical School, Harvard University’s Department of Human Evolutionary Biology, and the UCLA School of Medicine. She studies a phylogenetically wide range of species for insights into human health and development. A leader in the field of evolutionary medicine, she co-chairs the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine Board on Animal Health Sciences, Conservation, and Research (BAHSCR) and is the immediate Past President of the International Society of Evolution, Medicine, and Public Health. Her New York Times bestseller, Zoobiquity, was a Finalist in the American Association for the Advancement of Science Excellence in Science Books Award. Wildhood, a New York Times Book Review Editor's Pick, was named Book of the Year by the Association for Science Education (UK). Her latest initiatives include Female Health Across the Tree of Life and Mental Health Across the Tree of Life.
